From March-Oct, 11 Peer Advisors completed their NVQ Level 3 Advice & Guidance qualifications, and 29 completed initial training setting them on the path to this.
“The IAG program has given me a lot more self-confidence not only in my abilities as a Peer Advisor but in life in general. I am volunteering now which is something I never thought I would be doing… it has also given me the drive to do this as a job. A year ago going back to work was a dream but now it’s a distinct possibility.”
“St Giles helped me, not only in gaining my training and qualification but in building my confidence and self-esteem, I am a totally changed person, I now believe in my future and I know I can achieve.”
Despite such a challenging environment for job-seeking, 15 Peer Advisors have found secure employment since March, many of them going into advice & guidance roles, and we are delighted for them.
Here are just a few of the things our Peer Advisors have said over the past few months about their experience on the programme and their journey towards employment:
“I’m really happy I’ve found something to focus on in my life. Why didn’t I find it sooner!”
“I love that I am able to learn whilst doing the job I really wanted to do and I feel I have been supported throughout which has helped me get this far. It has just given me confidence to believe I can achieve and succeed in a role I really enjoy.”
“It feels amazing to be on the other side…. I flick my badge and get through the door; it makes me feel proud”.
