St Giles is delighted to have been awarded A Nationwide Community Grant as part of their annual scheme to Y Pantri, (which is run in partnership with Adferiad,) located in Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
Operated out of the historic Grade II listed ‘Porters’ building in the centre of the community, in the first six months of opening, Y Pantri supported 90 families made up of 163 adults and 59 children with all referrals coming from people who live within 5 miles of the site.
A unique model, Y Pantri offers nutritious food, expert advice and support through trained staff and volunteers; many of whom have experienced the same issues facing the people they support today.
This holistic approach stops their clients from falling through the gaps in services and helps to build foundations to support the whole person. This creates a lasting impact intending to support people to the point that they no longer need food from Y Pantri.
Alongside the human impact, The 5-star hygiene-rated Pantri saved over 7000kg of food otherwise destined for landfill from schemes such as Fareshare Cymru in the first six months.

We are pleased our Community Grants programme is going to make a difference through this grant to St Giles, helping them make a difference to the lives of those who rely on their services.”
Over the last six years, Nationwide Building Society has awarded £27 million to charities up and down the UK, helping make the lives better for almost 148,800 people.

Mae St Giles yn falch iawn o fod wedi derbyn Grant Cymunedol Nationwide fel rhan o’u cynllun blynyddol i’r Pantri, (sy’n cael ei redeg mewn partneriaeth ag Adferiad,) ym Mae Colwyn, Gogledd Cymru.
Wedi’i weithredu allan o’r adeilad hanesyddol ‘Porters’ rhestredig Gradd II yng nghanol y gymuned, yn ystod y 6 mis cyntaf ar ôl agor, cefnogodd Y Pantri 90 o deuluoedd a oedd yn cynnwys 163 o oedolion a 59 o blant gyda’r holl atgyfeiriadau yn dod gan bobl sy’n byw o fewn 5 milltir i’r safle.
Model unigryw, mae Y Pantri yn cynnig bwyd, cyngor arbenigol a chefnogaeth maethlon drwy staff a gwirfoddolwyr hyfforddedig; Mae llawer ohonynt wedi profi’r un problemau sy’n wynebu’r bobl maen nhw’n eu cefnogi heddiw.
Mae’r dull cyfannol hwn yn atal eu cleientiaid rhag syrthio trwy’r bylchau mewn gwasanaethau ac yn helpu i adeiladu sylfeini i gefnogi’r person cyfan. Mae hyn yn creu effaith barhaol sy’n bwriadu cefnogi pobl i’r pwynt nad oes angen bwyd arnynt bellach o’r Pantri.
Ochr yn ochr â’r effaith ddynol, arbedodd Pantri sgôr hylendid 5 seren dros 7000kg o fwyd fel arall ar gyfer tirlenwi o gynlluniau fel Fareshare Cymru yn ystod y chwe mis cyntaf.

Dros y chwe blynedd diwethaf, mae Cymdeithas Adeiladu Nationwide wedi dyfarnu £27 miliwn i elusennau ledled y DU, helpu i wneud bywyd yn well i bron i 148,800 o bobl.
