On the 19th July 2024, the St Giles Colwyn Bay / Bae Colwyn team celebrated one year of community impact at their Station Road site having facilitated over 1000 visits since opening and supporting 434Â people, (to April 2024.)Â
“This Pantri is more than just food, its belonging, support and advice I have never been able to get anywhere else”
– Y Pantri Client.Â
A unique model, The Pantry offers more than just nutritious, affordable food. On-site staff and volunteers provide expert advice and support; many of whom have experienced the same issues facing the people they support today. For a weekly subscription of ÂŁ3.50, people using the Pantry can choose from a range of fresh, wholesome produce as they would in any other shop whilst receiving support to address the underlying factors trapping them in poverty.  Â
This holistic approach stops their clients from falling through the gaps in services and helps to build foundations to support the whole person and create lasting impact.Â
”It has been a pleasure working with the community to reduce poverty, help our clients reach goals and/or be in a better position from when they first entered our Pantri. We have built a strong rapport with clients, who often come to visit after their time with us, which shows the level of devotion by all staff and volunteers. I personally really enjoy the cook and eat with clients, and we run coffee mornings every 3rd Tuesday of the month to encourage community building.”
– Stacey Brady – Y Pantri Coordinator.
“The team make me feel so welcome I want to stay and chat, this is something ive never felt before”
– Y Pantri Client
Alongside facilitating the 1000+ visits, Y Pantri has distributed 34,938 meals – having received a majority of the nutritious produce thanks to Fareshare. Over this period this has equated to over 14600kg / over 14.6 tonnes of food otherwise destined for landfill.Â
“I am now able to eat so much healthier because I can take fruit and vegetables every week from here at such a low cost.”
– Y Pantri Client
Y Pantri is run in partnership with Adferiad / CAIS Social Enterprises.
