St Giles Cymru Win ‘Health & Wellbeing’ Award at Welsh Charity Awards

[Welsh Translation]

On the 25th November at a ceremony held at the National Museum in Cardiff, St Giles Cymru were delighted to be the recipient of the ‘Health and Wellbeing Award’ at the Welsh Charity Awards.

Organised by the WCVA, and with a record number of nominations across all the categories, the team were honoured to receive this recognition for their work supporting young mothers and families in Rhyl to break the cycle of poverty, addiction and abuse. The project called ‘Aspiring Champions’ has supported 32 families to date and is led by St Giles staff member Stacey Brady.

She said of the win:

“It has been an honour to work with the women and families on the Rhydwen Estate. I was brought up on the estate myself and know about the impact poverty and deprivation can have. It is a privilege to be able give back and support the local community in this way.”

The ceremony was hosted by BBC journalist and presenter Jennifer Jones with an opening address from acclaimed actor Michael Sheen who is the President of the WCVA.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners and Leaderful Action who sponsored the category!

Enillodd St Giles Cymru Wobr ‘Iechyd a Lles’ yng Ngwobrau Elusennau Cymru ar 25fed Tachwedd mewn seremoni a gynhaliwyd yn yr Amgueddfa Genedlaethol yng Nghaerdydd, roedd St Giles Cymru yn falch iawn o dderbyn y ‘Wobr Iechyd a Lles’ yng Ngwobrau Elusennau Cymru.

Wedi’i drefnu gan CGGC, a chyda’r nifer uchaf erioed o enwebiadau ar draws yr holl gategorïau, roedd yn anrhydedd i’r tîm dderbyn y gydnabyddiaeth hon am eu gwaith yn cefnogi mamau ifanc a theuluoedd yn y Rhyl i dorri’r cylch tlodi, caethiwed a cham – drin. Mae’r prosiect o’r enw ‘Hyrwyddwyr Dyrchafol’ wedi cefnogi 32 o deuluoedd hyd yma ac mae’n cael ei arwain gan aelod o staff St Giles, Stacey Brady.

Dywedodd am y fuddugoliaeth:

“Mae wedi bod yn anrhydedd gweithio gyda’r menywod a’r teuluoedd ar Ystâd Rhydwen. Cefais fy magu ar yr ystâd fy hun ac rwy’n gwybod am yr effaith y gall tlodi ac amddifadedd ei chael. Mae’n fraint gallu rhoi yn ôl a chefnogi’r gymuned leol fel hyn.”

Cyflwynwyd y seremoni gan newyddiadurwr a chyflwynydd y BBC, Jennifer Jones, gydag anerchiad agoriadol gan yr actor o fri Michael Sheen, Llywydd WCVA.

Llongyfarchiadau i’r holl enillwyr a chystadleuwyr
