Remembering Lord Ramsbotham

Remembering Lord Ramsbotham

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Lord David Ramsbotham, who was the first patron of our charity and a generous advocate for our work.

He is remembered fondly by all at St Giles for his compassion and for his determination to right the wrongs in our justice system.

A passionate advocate for rehabilitation, Lord Ramsbotham presented certificates to the first group of prisoners who qualified as Peer Advisors in HMP Wandsworth.  He went on to support St Giles’ work over many years through endorsing the use of people with lived experience in providing criminal justice services.

His passing is a big loss and everyone who met him was touched by his humanity, humility and empathy. He will be sorely missed by all of us at St Giles and our thoughts are with his family during this time.
