Our Pathways to Employment project has just helped its 200th person into employment!
We are working in partnership with Job Centre Plus and local agencies to offer the project in the London boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.
Running through to 2018, Pathways helps disadvantaged residents of these three boroughs who have been long-term unemployed and faced a range of additional difficulties. Pathways helps these residents improve their overall wellbeing with the goal of getting a job.
Since May last year, 630 people have joined Pathways, 204 have secured employment and 213 have been upskilled and are now more ready for paid work.
Two thirds have been helped with health and wellbeing issues and over a third have also received support with housing, finances and debts, advice on childcare or how to disclose convictions to a potential employer.
Local employers have recognised how well participants are being prepared for roles and are now regularly contacting us with vacancies.
There are also regular short courses leading directly into employment in areas such as traffic management, construction and railways.
