County lines and modern slavery
A multi-faceted, collaborative approach to address so-called county lines exploitation and modern slavery.
What it is
St Giles Trust employs a multi-faceted approach to address so-called county lines exploitation and modern slavery.
County lines is a term commonly used to describe the transport of drugs by gangs through using children and vulnerable adults. The nature of what happens in county lines is criminal and/or sexual exploitation and modern slavery. It is through this lens that St Giles works with this issue as it recognises the extreme vulnerability of the people involved.
We adopt a multi-faceted approach:
- Education & prevention
We conduct workshops in schools and communities to raise awareness about the dangers of county lines, helping young people recognize and avoid exploitation.
- One-to-one support
Our trained professionals provide personalized support to individuals affected by county lines, assisting them in breaking free from exploitation and rebuilding their lives.
- Community engagement
We work closely with local communities to identify at-risk individuals and provide the necessary resources and support to prevent exploitation.
We are commissioned by the Mayor of London as part of a multi-agency partnership providing support to young people who are victims of criminal exploitation. Our role is to rescue children and young people who come to our attention, ensuring their safety, supporting them to overcome trauma and rebuild their lives.
Where: London-based, supporting young Londoners in locations across the UK.
