From Monday the 10th of June until Friday 14th St Giles’ Pantry Network will be promoting Healthy Eating Week 2024, organised by the British Nutrition Foundation.
By promoting Healthy Eating Week we aim to raise the profile of the importance of healthy food being accessible and affordable to everyone. In a recent study within our Pantry Network showed that 92% of our members were now eating more fruit and veg than before they joined us.
Across the UK nearly half, 44%, of households that have experienced food insecurity have reported that they have had to purchase less vegetables and almost 60% said they have cut back on buying fruit, a report by Food Foundation, 2024 found.
But St Giles Pantry Network strives to provide lost cost healthy nutritious and fresh food to its members. The Pantry Network works on a low cost subscription service available on referral where each member can choose from a variety of branded packaged food as well as fresh produce in a dignified shopping experience. Our Pantry Network is not a food bank but is a Social Supermarket, helping people struggling to make ends meet have access to the essentials.

With the help of events like Healthy Eating Week we hope to show the impact that fresh fruit and veg have on a person’s life. Our London based Pantries in 2023 alone were able to:
- Distribute over 200,000 meals through the produce available.
- Save almost 93 tonnes of fresh and healthy food from going to landfill
- Support over 678 adults and 277 young people through our Pantry services.
- Avoiding 145,000kg of CO2 emissions
And between April 2023 and March 2024, our Pantry Network supported over 1,300 individuals nationwide!
