—
This year we will be taking part in the Christmas Challenge once again, aiming to raise £48,400 to fund our food Pantry Network across England and Wales. Our Pantry Network provides weekly healthy, fresh food packages to vulnerable children and families experiencing food poverty offering both an immediate safety net and a sustainable route out of poverty within 6 months.
Save the date (November 28th at midday) and we will be in touch closer to the date to share the link to have your donations doubled as part of our Big Give Christmas Challenge.
For seven days, until the 5th December, The Big Give offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donations doubled! At St Giles, we have developed a food hub with a difference offering both an immediate safety net and a sustainable route out of poverty within six months.
We provide healthy, nutritious food to those struggling to feed themselves and their families – those held back by poverty, addiction, and mental health issues, who are being disproportionately affected by the cost-of living crisis and post-pandemic effects. We couple this healthy food with expert wraparound support from our trained Peer Advisors to help address the underlying issues leading to food poverty; advice and support with employment, finance, housing, personal wellbeing, mental health and social isolation among others. Many of our staff and volunteer Peer Advisors have overcome similar problems and speak the same language – they can say “I’ve been there” and it is this authenticity that empowers clients to build a better future for themselves. By coupling healthy food with expert advice, we can support individuals and families to overcome the barriers they face and break the cycle of poverty.
The Pantry Network, by St Giles, has expanded rapidly into seven permanent Pantry sites supporting hundreds of families across the UK every week. The cost of living crisis and increase in energy bills has led to thousands of families are skipping meals as they choose between heating and eating, with your support we will be able to support hundreds of families to move away from poverty for good.
The cost-of-living crisis could have a potentially devastating impact on the lives of the individuals and families we support. Help us keep them safe, warm and fed this Christmas by supporting The Big Give Pantry Appeal.
