We are delighted to announce that our colleague Kelly Broadbent, Regional Services Manager for North Yorkshire, has been awarded a Girdlers’ Medallion from The Girdlers Trust.
These prizes are awarded to individuals who work for Girdlers Trust funded organisations in recognition of the talent and commitment they have shown in their field.
Kelly has transformed the lives of hundreds of girls and women across North Yorkshire through her development of the Libby Girls service, a mobile drop-in for girls and young women who can get much-needed advice and support from a friendly team on board the van they operate from. It goes to locations girls and young women hang out in and takes the service to them.
Kelly has been responsible for every stage of this service from its initial creation, obtaining funding, making it a reality and ensuring it’s success.
Alongside her professional achievements, Kelly has always been a highly supportive, inspiring colleague and manager, supporting her team through challenging times both personally and professionally.
Her nominee said of Kelly:
Personally, she has been an inspiration to me following the most difficult time of my life and she saw in me what I could not see in myself.
Kelly received her accolade at an event at the Girdlers Hall on 7 May 2025, alongside her colleagues and family.
She joins three previous Girdlers’ Medallion recipients – Gill Gaunt, Barrington White and Shaun Blackwood – who won in previous years.
