Our Peer Advisors in London and Yorkshire were celebrated through special award events in recent weeks.
The Peer Advisors – who have trained through our Big Lottery Fund supported London Peer Hub and Peer Advisor Centre in Leeds – have overcome personal barriers to successfully achieve or work towards a Level 2 or 3 in Advice and Guidance. They offer peer-led support services to others who are currently facing similar situations to the ones they encountered. Typical issues experienced by Peer Advisors and their clients include homelessness, long-term unemployment, an offending background, mental health and substance misuse issues.
This ‘win-win’ peer-led approach gives the individuals who train as Peer Advisors a life-changing opportunity whilst also offering highly credible support services to others in need – both through services at St Giles Trust and in partner organisations who host Peer Advisor placements.
The Peer Advisor Programme runs through St Giles Trust’s services and is offered through all our work in London, Yorkshire, Wales, Ipswich and the prisons in which we work.
