Support for newly released prisoners
St Giles Trust provides intensive, practical support for people who have been newly released from prison through a range of projects.
Straight to Work
This highly successful project employs ex-offenders we have trained in prison under our Peer Advice Project to meet newly released prisoners to offer support with immediate issues such as housing and benefits and longer term support helping with issues such as employment, education and training. The key element to this project is using the first hand experiences of ex-offenders to help others resettle into the community. The project won the Andy Ludlow Award 2007 for its success in tackling homelessness. The project can work with anyone returning to the London area.
Through the Gates
London Probation have commissioned St Giles Trust to offer resettlement support to newly released prisoners returning to a number of London boroughs. Caseworkers offer practical support with issues such as housing and also offer support with education, training and employment.
