We provide a comprehensive package of services to help ex-offenders and disadvantaged people improve their skills and increase their chances of getting a job.
Skills and Employment support
Whether it is building basic skills or improving existing ones, we provide a range of courses to help people improve their prospects and broaden their horizons. Our training is offered in a friendly, inclusive environment and is specifically aimed at peope who may lack the confidence to enrol at a mainstream college. All these projects are available at our head office in Camberwell, south London.
BASIC SKILLS AND STARTERS
We provide a range of projects offering a starting point to help people increase their basic skills.
Our hugely popular Job Club helps our clients search and apply for jobs, write cover letters and gain further training. We also advise on disclosure issues and benefit claims. It is open for three days a week.
YOUNG PEOPLE
Aiming High - helps young offenders from Southwark into work through training, development of employment goals and support into employment.
Bridge to Work - helps young people who face barries to employment get a recognised qualification, vocational experience and support in the first months of work.
OFFENDER/EX-OFFENDER
Community Advice, Information and Guidance - offers clients in the community the opportunity to gain an NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance, backed up with work placements.
Teacher Training - offered to ex-offenders in the community and serving prisoners eligible for day release. It provides training in teaching skills towards a teacher training qualification. Trainees need to commit to two days a week for a 13 week period.
PROFESSIONAL
Construction Skills Certificate Scheme - we offer existing clients training in Health and Safety on a construction site and the chance to gain a CSCS card. Trainees must be engaged in another St Giles Trust project.
Outreach IAG - our intensive Information, Advice and Guidance NVQ (Level 2) is tailored to frontline workers delivering services to homeless people.
