Gay men in prison can face specific problems including homophobia, isolation and health needs. St Giles Trust has recognised these needs and designed a service specifically aimed at addressing them. Whether you are 'out' or not, InHere & Out is a support service for gay, bisexual and transgender men - or any men who could be questioning their sexuality - serving sentences in HMP Brixton, HMP Wandsworth, HMP High Down, HMP Bullingdon and HMP Huntercombe. It builds on our existing Peer Advice Project by using serving prisoners training to become advice workers to identify, offer and broker support. Confidential advice and support will be offered in a wide range of areas including coming out, dealing with bullying, health and safer sex and any other needs that may arise. The project is currently in its initial stages but we are hoping to extend it to a greater number of prisons if the service flourishes. Please contact us for further information.
