Gangs intervention goes live on YouTube

12 February 2008

Our Southwark Gangs Project has gone live on YouTube through a series of films giving first-hand accounts of people who have been involved in gang crime.

The films aim to put out a positive, anti-violence message and prove that, with the right support, it is possible to leave gang crime behind and turn your life around.

The project aims to counteract some of the violent films uploaded onto YouTube which glorify gang violence and also signpost individuals to sources of support.  The films feature ordinary people who have successfully turned their lives around and aim to show them as potential role models for others who may be headed in the wrong direction.

The first two films are available and can be downloaded by clicking on the link below:

The posts will be updated on a regular basis.  They build upon the st Giles ethos that ex-offenders who have changed thier lives can act as inspiring, powerful role models to others who are looking to do the same.
