Rapped up for the new year

31 December 2007

A CD highlighting the dangers of getting caught up in gang crime has been produced by young people involved in our SOS Massive project.

Called Rapping Up Europe, the CD contains seven tracks featuring original material created by a group of young people involved in the project.  It highlights issues such as crime, exclusion, family, friends and acceptance.  The group collaborated with other young people across the capital to produce the CD.

The CD will be distributed to secondary schools across the UK to promote debate about the issues it raises and encourage young people to stay safe and positive.

Junior Smart manages the SOS Massive project and was closely involved in producing the CD.  He said: "Rapping Up Europe is so powerful because it uses people's first hand experiences to highlight these issues.  It also gave disadvantaged but highly talented young people the opportunity to get involved in something creative and worthwhile."
